Terms of service

1. The agreement

By creating an account or using DuckEars you agree to these terms. If you are using it on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you can bind that organisation.

2. Your account

You need to be at least 13 (16 in some countries) to have an account. Keep your credentials to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your login. Tell us promptly if you think it has been compromised.

3. What you upload

You keep every right you already had in the documents you upload. You grant us a limited licence to store and process them for one purpose: generating and running your courses. We do not use your content to train models, and we do not show it to anyone else.

You must have the right to upload what you upload. Copyright law varies, and a textbook you paid for is not automatically yours to reproduce. Uploading material you do not have permission to use is a breach of these terms, and it is your responsibility rather than ours.

4. Acceptable use

Do not use DuckEars to:

• upload unlawful material, or material you have no right to;
• break, probe or overload the service, or work around usage limits;
• resell or redistribute generated courses as your own product;
• scrape the service, or use it to build a competing model or dataset.

5. Plans, billing and limits

Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or annually, and renew automatically until you cancel. Cancel any time from your account settings; access continues to the end of the period you paid for. Each plan states its limits — active courses and pages per upload — and we will tell you before you hit them rather than silently degrading your experience.

Prices can change. If they do, we will give existing subscribers at least 30 days’ notice, and the change takes effect at your next renewal.

6. Refunds

If DuckEars is not for you, email us within 14 days of your first payment and we will refund it. Beyond that, we refund at our discretion — but we would rather refund you than keep money you feel bad about.

7. What we generate

Lessons and questions are produced by AI models from the material you supply. They can be wrong. DuckEars is a study aid, not an authority — check anything that matters against the source, which is why every question cites its page. Do not rely on generated content for medical, legal, financial or safety-critical decisions.

8. Availability

We aim to keep the service up, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability. We may change or discontinue features. If we discontinue the service entirely we will give you reasonable notice and a way to export your data.

9. Termination

You can close your account at any time. We can suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and we will tell you why unless we are legally prevented from doing so.

10. Liability

To the extent the law allows, DuckEars is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or lost data, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including for death, personal injury or fraud — and none of it affects the statutory rights you have as a consumer.

11. Changes to these terms

We will post the updated version here and, for material changes, email registered users at least 30 days before they take effect.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which DuckEars is established, and disputes go to its courts — without affecting any mandatory protections in your country of residence.
